As the equipment operates, the cup sorting mechanism first separates stacked empty plastic cups one by one and precisely conveys them to the filling station via a conveyor chain or star-wheel transfer system. The filling system employs high-precision valve assemblies based on mass flow meters or piston metering principles, injecting purified water or formulated beverages into each cup with minimal deviation. The liquid filling process requires careful control of bubble generation and liquid level height to accommodate subsequent sealing and freezing expansion requirements.

Sterilized composite roll film (typically composed of PET, aluminum foil, PE, and other laminated materials) is guided over the cup rim and instantaneously heat-sealed by a heated sealing device under precisely controlled temperature and pressure. The heat-sealing parameters must be finely adjusted according to the film material characteristics and cup rim material to ensure seal strength sufficient to withstand freezing expansion stress while also considering consumer convenience during opening. Subsequently, the cutting mechanism trims the sealed cup film according to predetermined contours, while the trimmed edge scrap is automatically collected by a winding recovery system.

To accommodate different production scenarios, equipment manufacturers have developed various machine configurations. Small benchtop units are suitable for laboratory R&D or small-batch trial production by start-ups; medium-speed linear machines are a common choice for mid-sized food factories; while large high-speed rotary filling and sealing machines can achieve production capacities of several hundred cups per minute, meeting the large-scale production demands of major cold drink enterprises. The entire machine structure extensively employs stainless steel and food-grade engineering plastics, complying with food safety standards, and features IP-rated protection levels to facilitate high-pressure water washing.

The ice cup filling and sealing machine must address several specialized challenges in its design. The first is low-temperature adaptability—the equipment must operate stably over extended periods in near-freezing filling environments, imposing special requirements on lubrication systems and pneumatic components. The second is freezing allowance management—the filling volume must precisely reserve space for volumetric expansion when water turns to ice, avoiding cup deformation or seal damage. Additionally, when filling carbonated beverages or those containing fruit particles, the equipment needs to integrate specialized back-pressure filling and agitation systems to maintain product uniformity.

Currently, ice cup filling and sealing machines are continuously evolving along an intelligent trajectory. New-generation equipment is equipped with sensor arrays and industrial IoT modules, capable of real-time monitoring of critical parameters such as temperature, pressure, and seal strength, while enabling remote operation and maintenance and predictive maintenance. Some advanced models also integrate visual inspection systems that use image recognition technology to automatically reject defective products with poor seals or abnormal liquid levels, elevating quality control to new heights.
